Congo Bars

So easy. A cookie in bar form. Serve warm with ice cream, or eat right out of the pan.

Congo Bars
 
Ingredients
  • 2¾ cup all purpose flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅔ cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1½ cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
  3. Combine butter and sugar using a mixer until blended.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time to sugar mixture, mixing on low in between each addition.
  5. Add vanilla and mix.
  6. Add flour and mix until combined.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips and then pecans.
  8. Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread batter in dish.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes
